Pottery Handbuilding & Candle Making

Service Description

Please read carefully as this workshop is provided over the course of 3 weeks! This workshop is a 2 for 1 experience! First, make your own pottery vessels with Freda from @fredaspotteryshed. After they have been bisque fired and glazed, come back and make your own custom candles in your beautiful jars with Sarah from Fyrlight Candles! Located at 284 Queen St, Strathroy, ON, this class is perfect for beginners or intermediate learners and can be fun for people of all ages. Freda will guide you through the amazing art of handbuilding your own pottery. Exactly one week later you have the option to come back to glaze your creations (or Freda can do this step for you). Another week after this, Sarah will help you make custom candles in your vessels! Once those candles burn, a simple wash and you will get to keep your pottery pieces forever, or they are the perfect handmade gift idea! Hand-building Pottery: You will be making 2 jars/vessels of your choice, depending on how you want to work with your clay. Make smaller vessels with lids, larger vessels with feet or take creative control and make something totally unique! The first workshop includes clay, stamps, and tools needed to form vessels. After this, jars will be bisqued-fired by Freda. Exactly 1 week later you have the option to glaze your pieces or let Freda do this step and come back for the candle making portion. The initial wokrshop will take 2-3 hours. The candle making workshop will take place 2 weeks after the initial date so the pottery pieces can be ready for our candle making experience! Candle Making: We use 100% soy wax and natural fragrance oils for the cleanest burning candles around. At this workshop you will have your choice between over 50 different scents that you can mix, match or combine your favourites. All supplies and tools are included in the price. This workshop will take approximately 1 hour. Your lovely handmade pottery vessels will act as your candle jars! Our soy wax takes approximately 12 hours to cure, so next day pick up (or later) is recommended. Shipping can be arranged for an extra cost if need be. Workshop Outline (November 13, 20 & 27) Week1: Make your jars ~2-3 hrs Week 2: Glaze your pieces ~1hr Week 3: Make candles in your beautiful jars! ~1hr Pickup at least 1 day after last class so candles have time to harden.
